Back when we would wander around,
Feeling the wind against us –
Running through midnight alleys
In hopes of never getting caught
Where dead men’s legends never fade
(The legends never, they never fade away)
I wish the world could have solved for the battles,
Lead us back to the start –
And age us again
Back when we would hang around,
Seeing the darkness approach –
Shouting in the midnight rain
In hopes of never getting caught
Where the words said had no meaning
(But the moments, the memories, they mean more, they mean more to me)
I wish the world would be the place we expected,
Lead us back to the start –
And start it all over again
Back when we would wander around,
In a world full of people who couldn’t care less –
We only ran when we got running
In hopes of never getting caught
Where we were legends
(Only in our minds, as haunted as they may be)
I wish the world for you,
But you’ve got to fix the parts you’ve broken
And start all over again
