The Calm

Spoken in past tense
It all seems to make sense
So many had lost their way
When the streets were still filled with people

Back then,
You’d think people finally loved another
That we had finally resolved our need to be brothers and sisters
The wind changed direction

Spoken in past tense
A brush against the wind pushed me away
So many leaves lost their way
When the streets were still covered in snow

Living in the calm,
We never felt fear of our companies
That we had plenty of reasons for the world to change
The storms pushed in to our clear skies

Spoken in the moment
What I wouldn’t do for a little bit of normalcy
So many places that I’ve never been
When the world was covered in hope
