The Mockingbird

Early rise, my sun
Alarm blaring until shreds fall
Eager wrists over analyzing everything

I rode my bike everywhere
And you were in your cage on my back
How I never understood you

Later setting, my star
Flames licking at my fingertips
Eager words over stating their notes

You flew across the room
And I was just a fly on the wall
How I never understood you

Traded you away for a different look
For what Darryl had
How I wanted it back
